The importance of trying
What is the importance of trying? Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. John verse 1.
So you have to try the Spirits – but do you ever question what you are doing and why? If someone says to you that you shouldn’t do something do you just ignore it or do you question it to see if applies to you? Sometimes people are really trying to help you by being critical. Yes, they should not criticize but you could perhaps test to see if it is true or not. As you move along the path it gets easier by God’s grace. I think people have forgotten to try the spirits, otherwise how would people be able to say some of the things they say? For instance, I was having lunch with some guys from work a few years ago and one person said – you cannot stop your thoughts – I thought to myself, well i can, so why can’t you? People say these things because they haven’t tried even to watch their thoughts.
You do know that thoughts flow everywhere and people pick up a lot of ‘tramp’ thoughts and think these thoughts are theirs but they aren’t. Example : I was walking down the road on my way to the city, just strolling along and this thought came into my head ‘ Jump into the middle of the road’. Well , I thought to myself ‘Why would I do that? That just doesn’t make sense. So from then on I became somewhat aware of tramp thoughts. I was looking for more meaning in life and I had read some books on yoga, meditation and thoughts. So when that thought, literally catapulted into my thought process, I rejected it because it did not vibrate with me. If I had not the inclination to be searching for a path to God, I suppose I would have jumped into the middle of the road. It would have been better had I tried that thought to see where it came from but at that time, it was enough that I did not follow that thought.
When you read something profound do you stop and think about it? Do you try it out if there is a suggestion to do something? Are you willing to appear the fool to try it out? I read a book a long time ago and the theme was to let go and let God, so I tried it. I was playing cricket on a Saturday afternoon in a competition and I decided to let go and let God – how did I do this? I just said to myself quietly, let go and let God every time the bowler ran in to bowl. I said this to myself continuously – and you know, that was the best I have ever batted in my life. Usually all I could do was block the ball or have the ball hit me and so I was put in as over night batsman because they knew I could stay in. This time though I was playing strokes all over the field and I think I got 37 runs not out that day. All because I let go and let God. I was willing to try! That is what I mean. Are you willing to take the Masters at their word? Do you trust the Masters speak the truth?
TRY means Theos + rule + you. When you get what you feel is a good idea, do you try it out to test it to see if works or not? I find you have to be willing to do this or the path does not come alive to you. It never means the Teachings are not true, it means you have to apply them as best you can until you have some proof one way or another. It is the same with false masters. Sometimes they fool you – I have tried them out. You find out very quickly that they are false and you keep on putting one foot in front of the other and then you start to speak with the Masters and they are true and real. Well in my case it is all literally in my head. I find I have been talking to my Holy Christ Self for years before I even knew who he was. Not all the time, just at intervals where it seemed I need some help. I didn’t ask for help all the time either. I could have saved myself quite a bit of angst if I had asked for advice all the time – karma!
Anyway TRY you never know until you try it out. As Saint Germain says if you don’t give something your attention how will you begin to understand it. This applies to anything even God, your Mighty I AM Presence!
