The idea of consciousness

What is consciousness after all but being conscious or aware of more and more of what is all around you. Both the visible and the so-called invisible. This generally is helped along by reading, for in Theosophy they say that each new concept expands thought and consciousness. To go still further into the invisible world of consciousness takes a lot of work and is recommended for all to TRY.

Can you hold the attention in your mind of an Ascended Master? Think upon that one as well as you can. Accept that it is possible and give up the struggle. One Ascended Master is enough for you to hold the attention on. In an adeptship course, I found some words of immense sense. (From the Master KH as known in the Theosophical Society) – “The recognition of the higher phases of man’s being on this planet is not to be attained by mere acquirement of knowledge. Volumes of the most perfectly constructed information cannot reveal to man life in the higher regions. One has to get a knowledge of spiritual facts by personal experience and from actual observation….”

Also this – “It is upon the serene and placid surface of the unruffled mind that visions gathered from the invisible find a representation in the visible world.” For myself, I know that I see better with my eyes closed than with them open – especially for spiritual work. You need to get knowledge of spiritual facts by personal experience. That is only way you can definitely ‘know’ what is real and what is unreal.

This is all a part of consciousness. Remember that consciousness is all there is. It is the way your emotions, thoughts, memories and actions play upon consciousness that gives you your experiences. This may seem frightening except that this is what you have been doing all your life and now you can begin to do it consciously, with more awareness.

How do you learn? By copying. Watch children, that is how they learn. That is how you learn as well. If you are brought up with negative concepts, that is what you copy and likewise for positive concepts. So, if you copy the concepts of the I AM Presence, you become the I AM Presence. Copy being an Ascended Master and lo and behold you wake up one day the Ascended Master you copied with yourself added in to the mixture, thus expanding the Ascended Master and yourself.

Consciousness is pure, loving, whole, free, abundant, victorious – follow that and you cannot be anything else. Sometimes when you embark on a journey of this nature, it is hard work, for your part of the mind of God does not stay awake. Wake up and try again. This is due to the fact that you can only handle so much. I remember when I ventured into the mind of God –  there was nothing there – actually everything was there I just could not see it or acknowledge it.

So also, it is with consciousness – it may appear dark and unknowable – sit with it. Keep trying – gradually things will clear and you will begin to understand – as they say, the Light will dawn on you and you will be aware that it is a brand new day
