The Dorje or Vajra –Spiritual Thunderbolt

Recently I received a request from a Keeper of the Flame about how to use the vajra. The vajra is a spiritual thunderbolt! It is actually called a dorje. Dorje means thunderbolt or irresistible force. It also means diamond which indicates it cannot be cut or blunted. The double dorje is a scepter of authority, the emblem of power used to wield spiritual energy.

The instruction from the Masters is that we should not wield the vajra–it is a focus for the altar. It can be placed on one’s personal altar to do its spiritual work. It can also be placed on the altar of a teaching center or study group. The messenger’s Dorje’s were a gift to her from her chelas. These two dorje’s are always present on the high altar at King Arthur’s Court. It is not necessary that one pick up or wield the vajra or dorje.

Wielding the vajra is something that that should be done only by a messenger or one with a specific spiritual office. The reason is that the dorje is a very powerful spiritual instrument and one needs to be in complete alignment when using it.

Attached are pictures of three double dorje’s and a photograph of our messenger holding a dorje or vajra.
