For those who couldn’t attend Summit University 2015, or join the broadcast Memorial Service, this moving eulogy ‘Jennifer Jill Batten as told to her friend, Sharon Kenney’ which was read at the memorial service as part of the Friday night ascension service on 16th January at Summit University 2015, at Perth, has been published here for you to remember Jenny as she wanted us to.

At the bottom of the page there is a slide show movie as a memorial to Jenny, which was played at her funeral in Wagga Wagga, and also at Jenny’s memorial service at Summit University.

Jennifer Jill Batten as told to her friend, Sharon Kenney

Jennifer Jill Batten was born April 10th, 1943 in Tumberumba, New South Wales. She later moved with her family about 40 kilometers away to Jingellic where her father bought a dairy farm. Jenny had a wonderful childhood growing up on the farm.

Her first religious experience was when she was sitting out in the garden and she heard a voice telling her that she was the Christ. Her first thought was “that couldn’t be right because Jesus is the only Christ.” Jenny was about 12 at the time and she described herself as quiet and introspective.

Besides that her childhood was very normal. She knew from the time she was a child that she was going to be a nurse. In those days it was a very rigorous discipline to become a nurse. Jenny had some difficultly with English and didn’t quite her fulfill her English exams but decide not to be deterred and omitted that detail when she applied for her nursing entrance. She was accepted into nursing and determined to be a nurse. She enlisted a very dear friend and helper Elizabeth who helped her study and pass all her exams until she successfully completed all her general and midwife qualifications.

Her spiritual journey began in 1965 when she decided to travel with all her nursing friends to England to pursue her career there. At that time the Suez Canal was open so they travelled by boat through Sri Lanka then through Cairo to Egypt, visited the pyramids and explored the great chambers inside the pyramids. Then they travelled on to Greece to all the old temples of the Parthenon, then Malta and Italy. Then she disembarked in England and her new life began.

At that time Jenny became acquainted again with her husband to be, Brian. She worked in surgery where the doctors and nurses began the first plastic surgery for deformities in children and also heart surgery.

Jenny and Brian got married and moved to South Hampton. Jenny worked in a surgical hospital there doing general surgery. That part of her life ended sadly and Jenny returned to her family in Jingellic. She was grieving her marriage when her mother told her “if you’re going to be at home you need to start milking the cows and feeding pigs.”

At that prompting Jenny decided this just wasn’t the life for her so she quickly left and started a new life at Wagga Base Hospital. That was 1971. She was there for 12 months and then she decided to do a 12 month intensive care nursing course at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne.

Upon returning to Wagga Wagga after her training she started working in Community Health. She worked with children as a school nurse. Following that she did a stint with the chest clinic. In those days tuberculosis, or TB as they called it, was very prevalent. Jenny loved doing this work, travelling all around the region doing examinations and x-rays. She enjoyed visiting people in their own homes as well as her work in the clinic.

After the chest clinic work was over, she moved into the nursing field of aged care. She was a member of a mobile team who would fly out all over the Riverina area setting up day care community centres for the elderly.

Around that time she met George who was to become her second husband. In July 1982 they were married. George was an editor of a rural newspaper. George was a very renowned photographer of rural livestock.

By this time Jenny had pursued all she thought that she wanted in life and yet she still felt something was missing. One day as she walked along the street, she said to God “There has got to more to life than this, just show me what it is please.”

Well George was sick of his job and Jenny was feeling burnt out from her job, so they both decided to just pack up everything and move to Sydney. They consolidated some of their property holdings and reduced debt so they could buy a home at Whale Beach Sydney.

Then George and Jenny started a furniture restoring business. Later Jenny went back to community nursing.

Jenny felt herself looking for something and she didn’t know what exactly it was. At one point she went to a meditation group and they taught her about Saint Germain and the Angels which was great but she never felt quite comfortable with that group.

Then one day in a shopping centre Jenny felt directed to go to the book shop and purchase a book. It was Saint Germain on Alchemy by Elizabeth Clare Prophet and it had the address of Sydney Study group on the inside of the cover. She read that book over and over again. Then one day she plucked up the courage to go to the Sydney Teaching Centre and came into contact with the masters.

She met Allison Atkins. She told Allison that she wanted to buy the violet flame cassette so she could start decreeing straight away. “I need it!” Jenny told her.

Allison played a dictation by Mother Mary for Jenny where Mother Mary gave a teaching on smoking. Jenny was able to give up smoking immediately which was something she had been trying to do for some time.

From that point on Jen was committed to her spiritual path and focused on her mission. She took the violet flame tape everywhere and she played it in her car the whole day while she was driving around doing her community nursing.

After 12 months George wanted to return to Wagga but, Jenny said she would only return if George let her go to Montana for Summit University. This was in 1996 and Jenny was 53. George was only just barely agreeable at the time but Jenny managed to convince him to let her go to SU and the conference.

One day during the summer conference in July, Jenny went to the tent early and sat in the front row. She looked and there was Mother on the altar at the podium. Jenny was the only person in the tent at the time. She looked at Mother, too scared to speak but she said quietly in her heart, “Mother I love you.” She felt an instantaneous return of love that she never forgot.

After that first SU in 1996, Jenny went to many SU’s and she committed her life to the teachings. In Wagga Wagga she set up a chapel in a room in her home and started her own study group with a small band of devotees who would meet for Healing services and book study groups.

In 2011 Jenny attended a two-week retreat sponsored by Jesus at the Inner Retreat in Montana. She and a small group of fellow students with the aid of the SU Teaching Assistants studied the book by Jesus Walking with the Masters. They also volunteered to work each day with the staff. Jenny felt that experience changed her life forever.

It was not long after this that she experienced a return of the breast cancer that she had successfully fought some years before. She continued her brave fight against breast cancer and retained her positive outlook, always hoping to overcome the disease even while she went through all kinds of treatment. At times she made great progress but eventually she needed to go into hospice care. She knew all the nurses and she knew exactly where she wanted to go for her final care.

Jenny passed on peacefully on the 5th of December 2014. She was seventy years of age.

When she was asked “Who is your favorite Master? What does he or she mean to you?” Jenny replied:

“My first live dictation was Afra. Jesus, I have known him all my life and he has been with me always and guided me. Since I have read the book Walking with the Master it has made Jesus even more real to me. I have a very personal connection with him.”

When asked what was her favorite scripture again she again quoted from the book Walking with the Master, “The Path of the Rose Cross.” Chapter 10, page 189.

This was Jesus Easter Address April 15, 1990. It is also published in the Pearls of Wisdom Vol. 33 No. 16 Jesus Christ April 29, 1990 To the Called of God with Me in the Temple of Initiation – The Path of the Rose Cross.

Beloved Jesus said:

“Coming in then to the understanding of this calling, you may begin to examine and to discern all events of your lifetime leading to it, understanding that all other initiations and the balancing of karma and the increase of the cosmic honour flame (have been that you may) come to that place where surely the momentum of the bliss of the rose of the heart itself does displace the transmutation that may be experienced, (albeit momentarily,) as pain or sorrow or burden. And yet in the moment, in the twinkling of the eye of God, once again you have passed through another round of world transmutation, for world conflagration, for sacred fire.

“Bless God. Bless the enemy. Bless the adversity and the adversary, as you have heard the Beloved One speak and say. But feel the blessedness of the love of the Holy Spirit that passes through you, even an all-consuming fire whereby the burning of the heart does according to the sine wave; carry you up into the ecstasy of the Holy Spirit.

“O blessed ones, truly it is blessed to have the opportunity and the certain freedom that comes with this path to exult in the glory of the Lord and to know that on the etheric plane one carries the stigmata. And thus, the flowing light, as the flowing blood of Christ, and the superimposing of my body upon your (body) enables you to be in the earth, in heaven at once but most especially at the point of the nexus where (the) one becomes the other.

“Thus, you remain visible in the world, but all who see you will begin to see through you into the portals of heaven and gain an understanding of what is the life universal and the life triumphant and that earth provides stepping-stones. And those who may be the exalted and those who may fulfil a certain way of the Path of the Rose Cross may appear in the earth as Saint Therese of Lisieux, being in the earth a powerful presence, ascended and unascended all at once.”
