A letter from our Ministers
Dear Keepers of the Flame in Australia,
SEEKING THOSE WHO FEEL A CALLING TO ASSIST AT SUMMIT UNIVERSITY IN JANUARY 2014
As your regional ministers and as the teaching assistants for the Summit University in Australia in 2014, we are very much looking forward to seeing you all at Jindabyne. We have heard your consistent requests for more training and we have built this into the upcoming SU which will have a lot to do with outreach and growing and expanding the teachings.
In this light, we have been considering the addition of one or more teaching assistants from among the Australian Keepers of the Flame to help us at Summit University. We have approached the Summit University Manager, Rev. Carla Groenewegen, with this proposal and she has agreed to allow us to move forward with this program.
We see this as a positive move for several reasons. As regional ministers we endeavor to provide ongoing training for the Australian chelas. We are heartened by the progress made at many levels and we believe it is high time for the Australian chelas to step up to the plate and to assist at Summit University. You may not be aware that this has been happening for some time in other countries such as Brazil, South America, Russia and some parts of the United States, especially at the Inner Retreat. Some of those who have been and are being trained as teaching assistants are lay brothers and sisters, recent graduates of the Ministerial Training Program. Some are dedicated Keepers of the Flame and communicants in their regions. Being a TA (teaching assistant) is an opportunity for them to receive training at a different level. Sometimes it is only by doing that we can really integrate what we are learning.
Being a TA is training at several levels—not only in presenting the teachings but also in being sensitive to the needs of the students and in learning how to handle energy. All of these skills will be very helpful in future outreach in Australia. As regional ministers we would also appreciate this support. We have been coming to Australia for Summit University for a number of years now—we love to come downunder and plan to continue to do so as long as God wills. And although we are capable, by the grace of God, of presenting the teachings for seven days, we feel it will be helpful to us as regional ministers to have others upon whom we can call to assist us and to share the load—practically and energetically.
We think it will also become a point of co-measurement for all of us, as we learn to handle the energies on a nation-wide scale. For this reason we envision allowing more people to take on significant supporting roles at SU so that can you can be prepared when the tens, then the hundreds and eventually the thousands will start to come to your centers, as you shepherd the people of your nation.
Therefore we would like to begin with training at least two teaching assistants at this upcoming Summit University who can assist with one or more presentations per day, initially in a co-presentation role with one of the regional ministers.
We sense that there are some who might feel this calling and we do see among you (including some Alphas!) those who might make excellent teaching assistants. Therefore we invite those who feel the calling to contact us and let us know of your interest and a little bit about your background and why you are feeling called.
Please contact us in the next two weeks. We will prayerfully consider who has applied and will let you know by the end of the month who has been selected. We may also call on others to assist us with discussions, clearances and presentations within SU.
To inspire you to apply, we wanted to share with you some teachings from our messenger has told us about the role of teaching assistant on December 4, 1983:
“I would like to say that the path of the teaching assistant is the assistant to the teacher and we know that the teachers at Summit University are the World Teachers, the Ascended Masters. The sixth ray is also the ray of the Ministering Servant. The Ministering Servant Program has been opened this summer for those who study at Summit University and serve in the sacred labor on staff, to move toward becoming ministers in Church Universal and Triumphant.”
In the Teaching Assistants Notebook we read about “The Role of the Messenger and the Teaching Assistants:”
Mother has said. “The Summit University Retreat experience happens because of the Messenger and the Ascended Masters. The reason why SU works is that on a given day the most advanced and the newest students, the elderly, are all receiving the Holy Spirit in a different way from each different presentation. Summit University is an alchemy. It is a spiritual transformation. The masters use SU as a platform to take from the students the maximum substance, maximum entities, maximum addictions and all kinds of records that the great Law will allow them to take.”
In 1993 the messenger gave a profound teaching on what the students can expect from Summit University. It gave the teaching assistants a clear vision of what they should be striving towards.
“Students should come here with the expectation that the Messenger is the Facilitator of opening the door to your own Holy Christ Self and I AM Presence. You can walk and talk with God and measure right and wrong and truth and error based on the Teachings of the Ascended Masters and the advice and counsel of my Teaching Assistants and ministers.
“The Messenger has trained and counseled her ministers, psychologists and Teaching Assistants. Students need to understand that this staff who serves SU students are comparable to the advisors and angels they would find in the etheric retreats. They have had training and they are able to answer the basic questions along the way.”
The ascended masters, Mother and the Holy Christ Self of the students are the true teachers at Summit University. Teaching Assistants simply assist as the hands and feet of the Messenger. We can still consider that this is our role—to be the hands and feet of the messenger.
Mother often reminded us, “Remember you work for the messenger.” Part of our role in the past was to assist Mother when she came to teach, working closely under Mother’s direction to produce the daily course outline and schedules. Teaching Assistants worked hand in hand with the messenger.
The course of Summit University is related to giving people the tools to attain inner resolution, draw down their Holy Christ Self, embody it and go forth as a representative of the Great White Brotherhood. The role of the teaching assistant is to help the students to do this. Their responsibility is therefore to integrate the content of the lectures and workshops with the active mode.
It is therefore important that the teaching assistant be striving to bond to the Holy Christ Self. The messenger explained that
“The people who are bonded to their Holy Christ Self will make good teachers… And if they are not bonded now, they really have to work hard at it, in order to stand up at Summit University.”
Mother expected her teaching assistants to be continually striving. Teaching assistants should be chelas of the messenger and the masters. Each should be continually striving to improve their chelaship. Teaching assistants are expected to be working on their personal psychology and to be overcoming blocks to their psychology. They need to be examples of the path of chelaship and initiation.
It sounds like a tall order but we believe that many of you are capable of doing just what the TA Notebook says.
We hope that you will be supportive of this new initiative and we trust that you will be encouraging and patient with those who are willing to take on this new role. After all, it might be you next time! Our ongoing goal is that hopefully more will be trained in future years.
Our love and best wishes to all Keepers of the Flame who are keeping the flame in Australia. We are truly grateful for your hearts love and devotion and greatly look forward to seeing you all in the very near future at Jindabyne.
In the Light of Christ,
Rev’s Neroli and Peter Duffy Regional Ministers for Australia for Church Universal and Triumphant and the Summit Lighthouse
