Open the door of your heart

Now on MP3 CDs, the Summit Lighthouse presents Elizabeth Clare Prophet's original teachings, "Open the Door of Your Heart to the Living Flame of Love."  Here is a excerpt.
32.  Since God, then, as giver, is communing with the soul by means of loving and simple knowledge, the soul must likewise commune with Him by receiving with a loving and simple knowledge or advertence, so that knowledge may be united with knowledge and love with love....
"It's a very important observation of Saint John.  The interesting point which Saint John is making here, is that meditation leaves off and a very supernatural experience between God and the soul takes place.  And he says that one of the first exercises that comes, is the exercise of purgation, which is the purging.  It means the purging of the vehicles and the purging of the soul itself.

"The soul is not a sphere of purity suspended within the four lower bodies; the soul itself is not necessarily pure because the soul takes on the coloration of our misuse of energy.  So we see that souls have characteristics.
"Purgation, then, is considered to be an advancement and beyond the level of meditation.  And the exercise of purgation is preparing for these supernatural exchanges between God and the soul, which cannot be expected to be received if one is performing acts one's self, because nothing one can do of one's self can bring this intimate reunion with God.

"So since meditation is something that one does, John is saying, "At a certain point the teacher tells the individual, 'stop your meditation because you are trying to create something between yourself and God, but pursue the purging not only of the four lower bodies, but of the soul.'"

"We are living in this age of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit's acceleration.  And when all the gurus are going around giving mantras and meditations and all kinds of intellectual and scientific explanations for these mantras and meditations, what do the Ascended Masters give us?

"Very, very little meditation.  And the emphasis is on the purging.  Now the purging is for the clearing of the way for the supernatural experiences between the soul and God.  Many students come with a momentum of meditation and they have come to rely upon meditation as a source of communication between whatever; their concept of God and whatever has come through meditation.
"But if the vehicle be not purged, you are not qualified to receive God in mediation.  This is the great teaching of the real guru.  And it is only the very earnest disciples who can leave the vanity of meditation.

"Now there are pure forms of meditation which Kuthumi, Jesus, Maitreya, Buddha all teach.  But I'm talking about vain meditation and the vanity of meditation when it is something engaged in by an ego not yet surrendered, who feels that he is creating something between himself and God.  In other words, he is creating the avenue over which God is going to speak to him.  So you see, this form of meditation puts you in control of God.  It's a very subtle thing, but you can control God by meditation.

"There's not much use for meditation if there isn't purging.  But the meditation that John is speaking of here, is a meditation in which the teacher gives the individual things upon which to meditate.  So there's a focal point for the meditation.
"What you are given for your meditation is all of the teachings of the ascended masters.

"You go from a state of meditation on a single point, either a dot or a point of the law, you just contemplate it, you go from your meditation to that state of contemplation where you have centered yourself in God.  And now in God you start contemplating his teaching.  And as you contemplate in God, God talks back to you and gives you more teaching, more illumination, more embroidery, more petals on the flower.
"So, that's a round of experience, the learning of the teaching, the meditating upon a single energy forcefield, the contemplating of the teaching that is woven around a single energy forcefield; and that's one set of experiences."
